Grayson Waller and Austin Theory are confident that they will hold the gold for a long time.
On the April 19 episode of WWE SmackDown, Grayson Waller and Austin Theory were presented with the new WWE Tag Team Championship after they previously won the SmackDown Tag Team Championship at WrestleMania XL. During the show, the Street Profits (Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins) won a four-way match to earn a title shot.
In a WWE SmackDown Exclusive, Byron Saxton interviewed Grayson Waller and Austin Theory during a photo shoot and asked them about their new titles.
Grayson Waller: Look at this. Another clout-chaser. We have a big moment, someone’s gotta come and get a photo with it. You’re welcome. There’s your clout, Byron. Enjoy that.
Austin Theory: I’m sorry. Do you not realize who you interrupted? Do you not realize that the greatest photo shoot of all time is taking place? I mean look what happened out there. We are the new, the brand-new, do you see this? Nobody’s ever had this title except Grayson Waller and Austin Theory, and you come in here and you disrespect us.
Saxton then asked the duo about the Street Profits earning a title shot. Waller quipped that their reign would surpass Roman Reigns' long title run, and they would beat the Street Profits if they wanted the smoke.
GW: We said a few weeks ago when we beat them that we are the smoke. So if they want the smoke, we got it for them. We’re just gonna go through them again, undefeated tag team champions. It’s gonna be a long time. Roman Reigns’ reign [laughs] ain’t gonna be anything close to ours.
AT: I’ll tell you what, it’s just still mind-blowing to me that you interrupt us, the greatest undefeated tag team champions of all time. Brand-new championships for the first time ever. Nobody’s ever had these. Then you come in here, and you’re talking about two randoms. Sure, sure, they got a number one contender match, sure. But guess what’s gonna happen? [Points to Waller] and this [looks at his title], it’s not gonna change. We’re the champs, and we’re forever the champs. The time that we put away these tag team championships is when we feel like it, when we wanna put them on the shelf, on a plaque in our house.
